4 MASTER'S STUDENTS TO BE ALSO ASSISTED THIS YEAR BY
"MATEVOSIAN SCHOLARSHIP" PROGRAM

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 27, NOYAN TAPAN. The Fund for Armenian
Relief (FAR) will cover education expenses of other 10 students
from socially needy families this year by the "Matevosian
Scholarship" program. As Levon Lachikian, the FAR Press
Sectretary informed the Noyan Tapan correspondent, 7 among those
students are from Yerevan, 2 are from Gyumri, 1 is from
Chambarak. 3 of them study the "Computer Programmer" speciality,
1 in the "International Relations" department and 6 in the
"Economy" department.
To recap, it is already 10 years that this program is
implemented in Armenia by financing of benefactor Anush
Matevosian living in New York. In general, 40 students,
including 20 from marzes, presented applications for being
involved in the program this year.
L.Lachikian also mentioned that 4 master's students are for
the first time involved in the program this year. The total
number of beneficiaries of the program make at present 56
students who study at the Yerevan State University, Yerevan
State Economy and Engineering Universities.
In FAR Press Secretary's words, another Armenian benefactor
living in New York, Hovhannes Ounjian, sponsor those
school-leavers of Gyumri No21 school from socially needy
families who continue their education at paid departments of
institutions of higher education. 19 students are involved in
the "Ounjian" scholarship program, and the total number of
beneficiaries make about 50 students.
It was also mentioned that the FAR allocates resources for
education payments of 50 pupils of the "Octet" music school of
Gyumri, functioning in huts conditions.
