RESTORED CENTER FOR SOCIAL ASSISTANCE TO HOMELESS PEOPLE TO
FUNCTION IN YEREVAN FROM NOVEMBER

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 26, NOYAN TAPAN. The Center of Social
Assistance to Homeless People of the RA Ministry of Labour and
Social Issues which started functioning in Yerevan from January,
2006, served 148 people till now: 22 of them underwent hospital
treatment, 4 returned family, and 8 were moved to boarding
houses. As Anahit Gevorgian, the Deputy Chief of the Ministry's
Department on Invalids' and Elderly People's Problems informed
the Noyan Tapan correspondent, there are 31 homeless people in
the center at present.
A.Gevorgian mentioned that recostruction works are being
done in the center now, which will probably finish till
November.
A.Gevorgian mentioned that homeless people live in the
center for 2 months, get medical-psycological service and free
food. Issues connected with the latters' documents as well as a
series of other social problems are solved here.
It was mentioned that about 87 mln drams (about 225
thousand U.S. dollars) were allocated from the state budget for
reconstruction of the center in 2006, and about 39 mln drams
will be allocated the next year.
