During the opening ceremony of the first Armenian Microelectronics Olympiad Finals, Director General of Viasphere Technopark Aram Vardanian handed the symbolic key of Synopsys Armenia's new building located in the techopark's area to Chi-Fun Chan, Chairman of Synopsys company, a world leader in the automated design of microlectronic devices. Hovik Musaelian, Director General of Synopsys Armenia, told NT correspondent that the repairs and furnishing of the new building will be completed in October-November 2006. The building is envisaged for 550 designer-engineers and 230 students. According to him, Synopsys plans to increase the staff of its Armenian subsidieary to 2,000: in the future, these employees will work in the currently unoccupied area in Viasphere Technopark. According to H. Musaelian, Synopsys Armenia is second among the subsidiaries of Synopsys (after the US subsidiary) in terms of design volumes. Synopsys currently employs 5 thousand experts, with 10% of them working at Synopsys Armenia.
