EARLY WARNING SYSTEM OF DISASTERS IS ENVISAGED TO INTRODUCE
IN ARMENIA AND GEORGIA

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 23, NOYAN TAPAN. The "Introduction of
early warning system of disasters in South Caucasus" project
will be presented on February 26-28 at an international
conference which will be held in the city of Bonn, Germany. It
was worked out by the Rescue Service of the Ministry of
Territorial Government of Armenia and the appropriate department
of Georgia, with the support of the German Technical
Cooperation. The project is envisaged to implement from 2007.
As Major General Edik Barseghian, the Director of the
Rescue Service of Armenia, mentioned at the February 23 meeting,
the project of 2mln 700 thousand of euros is envisaged to
implement in the RA provinces of Syunik and Tavush and in one of
the regions of Georgia. Within the framework of the project a
monitoring will be implemented in the communities, the risks of
the natural calamities will be estimated, lessons of public
awareness will be held, systems of communication and warning
will be introduced, necessary equipments will be bought.
