YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 3, NOYAN TAPAN. The presentation of the
work "Corruption in the Education System" by Bagrat Harutyunian,
a post-graduate student and lecturer of Yerevan State
University's Sociology Department, was held on February 3 at the
Caucasus Research Resources Center.
According to the author, the research results indicate that
corruption has already been institutionalized in Armenia. "It is
already a phenomenon of social significance, has its own
language, it continuously spreads and is reproduced," B.
Harutyunian said. According to him, his purpose was not to
identify which higher educational institution or educational
level is most corrupted, rather, he aimed to find out whether it
is a fully formed institution or not.
B. Harutyunian conducted surveys in 26 expertise groups and
8 focus groups for his research. The former group was composed
of lecturers and experts, while the latter - of university
students and schoolchildren of graduate forms.
