NUMBER OF CITIZENS WHO APPLIED TO YEREVAN POLYCLINICS FOR
PRIMARY MEDICAL AID ABRUPTLY INCREASES IN JANUARY

YEREVAN, JANUARY 30, NOYAN TAPAN. On January 1-27, compared
with the same period of the previous year, the number of
population's visits to Yerevan polyclinics increased by 47%,
home calls by 24%, laboratory-instrumental examinations by 51%.
Armen Soghoyan, Head of the Health and Social Security
Department of Yerevan Mayor's Office, informed about it at the
January 30 press conference. According to him, in 2005, compared
with the previous year, the number of visits to polyclinics
increased by 14%, home calls by 19.5%.
A.Soghoyan mentioned that 14 bln 344 mln drams (about 31.87
mln USD) has been allocated this year for the primary medical
aid, which is more by 15% compared with 2005. The goal of
increase of state financing is to make the medical aid
affordable for the population, so as diagnostics of diseases at
the early stage and prevention of further complications will be
possible. The head of the department mentioned that within the
framework of the state order narrow medical examinations can be
only implemented with the permit of district therapeutists,
pediatricians and family doctors.
