62% OF YEREVAN RESIDENTS IS FOR YEREVAN MAYOR'S APPOINTMENT

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 30, NOYAN TAPAN. 44.7% of 1500 residents
interrogated in Armenia wants to move from his permanent
settlement, at that 6.3% prefers to live in Russia, 5.1% in the
US. These data are taken from the study under the title
"Problems of RA Regional and Communal Development" conducted by
the Armenian Center for National and International Studies.
Submitting the results of the study on September 30, Stepan
Safarian, head of center's studies, mentioned that the main
reason for citizens' moving from their permanent settlements is
bad living conditions, unemployment and obscurity of the future.
According to him, 70.8% of the respondents considers that it's
easier to find a job in Yerevan and 7.6% in Armenian regions.
62% of 500 Yerevan residents that participated in the
survey is for appointing Yerevan Mayor by election. At that,
39.7% considers that the Mayor plays no role in city's
development. 50.6% is discontent with Prefect's work and 19.2%
is content.
It was also mentioned that 63.5% of residents of Armenian
regions wants the Governor to be appointed by election.
