NEARLY 338 THOUSAND OLD PEOPLE LIVE IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 30, NOYAN TAPAN. October 1 is the International Day of Old People, which is also marked in Armenia. As Noyan Tapan's correspondent was informed by Jemma Baghdasarian, Head of the Department on Disabled and Old People's Problems of RA Ministry of Labor and Social Issues, at present nearly 338 thousand old people live in Armenia, 170 out of them are aged 100 and above. J.Baghdasarian noted that 930 people live in Ministry's 4 hostels, nearly 800 out of them are old people. And the republican center for social service of lonely old and disabled people takes care of 1200 lonely old and disabled people in home conditions in Yerevan. The head of the department highlighted that Ministry's policy is aimed at not increasing the number of old people's houses but extending social services in home conditions.
