WORK ON PREPARATION FOR WINTER ALMOST COMPLETED AT YEREVAN

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 23, NOYAN TAPAN. The management of
Yerevan Zoo has already done more than 80% of work on
preparation for winter. As Noyan Tapan's correspondent was
informed by Zoo Director Sahak Abovian, cages envisaged for
heat-loving animals are ready, a sufficient amount of grass and
nearly 15 tons of meat have been stored. It was mentioned that
57 mln drams (nearly 126 thousand USD) was allocated from the
state budget this year for purchasing fodder for animals. And
about 13-14 mln drams gained from sale of Zoo entrance tickets
was spent on solving some problems and paying employees'
salaries.
There are 2300 animals of 190 species at the Zoo at
present. S.Abovian said that it's envisaged to bring 7-8 species
of new animals from cities of Kiev and Nikolayev in 2006 spring.
