On April 4 Ombudsman of Armenia received ambassadors, heads and representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations operating in Armenia at a round-table presentation of the findings of the Ombudsman’s Annual Report 2011 on systemic problems relating to human rights violations in the country. In addition the Ombudsman presented his Office’s Human Rights Strategies for 2012-2017, followed by a Q/A session. The Strategies are elaborated with respect to problems in the protection of the rights of vulnerable groups and key underrepresented civil and political rights, taking into account input from NGOs, civil society, individual citizens, and the international community, as well as the findings from the Annual Report 2011. The documents will serve as a basis for future actions to be undertaken by the Ombudsman office in the coming 5 years.
