YEREVAN, 11 JUNE, NOYAN TAPAN: On June 11, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan received a group of delegates of the French National Assembly. The delegates visited Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh under the initiative of head of the Armenian-French parliamentary group Francois Roshbluan. Welcoming the guests, Sargsyan stressed that he highly appreciates their decision to visit Artsakh. “It gave you the opportunity to get acquainted with the reality on the spot, hear the Karabakh administration and people’s opinions to get a picture of their ambitions and challenges to overcome. This will provide you with the opportunity to present not only information you have received through intermediaries, but what you have personally seen and heard,” said Sargsyan. The French parliamentarians shared their impressions with Sargsyan and said that there was a huge difference between what they pictured and what they saw. According to them, it is clear that there is strive to organize public life through democratic rules in Nagorno-Karabakh and proof of that are the recent NKR National Assembly elections. The guests mentioned that they were especially impressed by the security and care in Stepanakert which is not characteristic of cities living in danger of a war. According to a press release of the RA presidential press office, Sargsyan expressed gratitude to the French delegates for showing ongoing interest in Armenia and Artsakh and said that inter-parliamentary cooperation is one of the best ways of developing bilateral relations and forming mutual understanding and confidence.
