Today, a regular meeting of the Government of the Republic of Armenia was held, chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan:
The government has approved the employment support program for persons with disabilities and individuals aged 63 and older, the development of which is driven by the need to increase employment opportunities for individuals with first or second group disabilities or severe functional limitations, as well as for those aged 63 and older, to enhance their competitiveness in the labor market and ensure stable employment. The implementation of the program will contribute to their active involvement in social and economic life, ensuring dignified self-realization, the formation of additional income, and an increase in social activity. Accordingly, it is proposed to provide support to employers (excluding public service bodies and organizations where the state or community's participation in the statutory capital is 50 percent or more) who will sign employment contracts with persons with disabilities and individuals aged 63 and older for at least 3-6 months. Moreover, the employment contract can be signed on a part-time basis. Within the framework of the program, it is proposed to reimburse the employer for the income tax calculated and paid from the salary of the employed person on a quarterly basis, amounting to 50% for the first three months of employment, but not exceeding 25,000 drams per month, and 100% for the 4th to 6th months of employment, but not exceeding 50,000 drams. If the employment relationship between the employed person and the employer continues for another year after the reimbursement, it is proposed to provide the employer with a one-time support of 100,000 drams. The program is proposed to be implemented in 2027 to ensure the employment of 200 beneficiaries.
