The government will provide support of more than 3 billion drams to exporters.
Today, the regular meeting of the Government of the Republic of Armenia was held, chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan:

The government has adopted a decision that will create an opportunity to cover the costs subject to compensation arising from the export of fruits (apricots, plums, cherries, strawberries), vegetables (tomatoes, peppers), flowers, bottled natural mineral water, bottled grape wine, and bottled Armenian brandy or Armenian cognac by economic operators.

As noted by Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan, back in early June, the government adopted a support program aimed at diversifying markets.

«Through the program, we provide financial support if products of Armenian origin from greenhouse production, as well as fresh fruits and certain types of food and beverages, are exported».

According to the minister, the purpose of the decision is to fulfill the obligations related to exporters resulting from the program for the month of June.

«That is, they have exported, and we need to provide them with financial support. To implement the event, it is necessary to compensate a total of 3 billion 140 million drams for the obligations incurred in June»:

Referring to the decision, Nikol Pashinyan noted that the compensation of 3 billion drams is a significant amount, which indicates that the export volumes are large.

In response, Gevorg Papoyan presented the export volumes: in June, 784 tons of peppers, 200 tons of tomatoes, 109 tons of strawberries, about 3000 tons of apricots, 1400 tons of cherries, 1.5 million liters of bottled natural mineral water, 230 thousand liters of bottled grape wine, and so on were exported.

Gevorg Papoyan also informed that the ministry is in constant contact with economic operators, receiving proposals aimed at improving the implemented programs, based on which some changes are planned in the upcoming programs.

The Prime Minister noted that the balancing policy in the economy of the republic is underway, meaning that the export of 3 billion in one month indicates significant volume gains.

In this context, Nikol Pashinyan also referred to the daily increase in the number of incoming passengers to Armenia and recorded it as a branch of export.

«These days, almost every day, more than 10,000 passengers are entering the Republic of Armenia. There is also a good trend, as the recognition of Armenia has increased; people may take advantage of the opportunity to travel to third countries through Armenia, or in the opposite direction, they go out for 1-2 days, travel around the republic, and this also has a very significant impact. The situation of prices in the market shows that there are no major consumption problems. Of course, we have a certain price drop regarding 1-2 types of products, such as roses and tomatoes, but in other cases, it seems that there is no significant change».

In response, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan noted that the export support tools in accordance with international standards will likely become permanent.

«Not at this scale, nor with these types of products, but discussions are being held. For products with potential, I am confident that we will present a proposal so that support for their export is continuous».

In this context, Nikol Pashinyan reminded of the previously made decision that the logic of covering conservation costs should transition to the logic of development costs.

«Now our task is to prepare within the next year for the situation where we maximize the diversification of apricot and other agricultural product exports so that we do not have disproportionate dependence on any one market, in line with the thesis of the Real Armenia ideology that independence is replacing dependence on a few with dependence on many. That is, if we export something to dozens of markets, an unforeseen event in any one of those markets cannot affect our market. And in general, in the case of all types of products and everything, we must operate with this logic, and this is also the path to strengthening Armenia's sovereignty, independence, and statehood,» the head of state emphasized.

The Minister of Economy, presenting the picture of product diversification, noted that during June-July, fruits were exported to 15 countries around the world, flowers to 25 countries, and vegetables to 8 countries.

In response, Nikol Pashinyan noted that these exports are opportunities.

«I want to note that our economic operators must show adaptability. Each of the markets has its own formula of requirements and tastes, and our exporters must adapt».
