The government has approved the procedure for calculating bonus points in the field of universal health insurance, the application of coefficients, and making payments through them.
As noted by the First Deputy Minister of Health Lena Nanushyan, the decision has been developed based on the provisions of the RA law on "Universal Health Insurance."
"We had established by law that bonus points are calculated for the purpose of encouraging a healthy lifestyle for the insured person if, during the given year, no other insurance compensation has been registered in their name, apart from preventive services, that is, screenings. In this case, after the end of the year, the initial bonus points are transferred to the person's bonus account. At the same time, also considering the important public health indicators for our population, we have established additional indicators. When the insured person acts as a voluntary unpaid blood donor or when health-improving indicators aimed at the person's healthy lifestyle are recorded by a primary health care physician, for example, normalization of body mass index, quitting smoking, etc., then additional coefficients for bonuses are also applied. We will define these in more detail by the order of the Minister of Health, both the procedures and the amounts of bonuses," said the deputy minister.
Lena Nanushyan informed that it has been established that the final bonus points cannot exceed 10% of the annual insurance premium, and these accumulated points can be used for various purposes after the year ends.
"They can be used to pay the insurance premium, to purchase a voluntary medical insurance package, to pay co-payments, as well as for subscription fees for gyms and swimming pools."
According to the deputy minister, the decision will come into force on January 1, 2029. "This preliminary approval will allow us not only to prepare the electronic tool but also to carry out the necessary preparatory work."
