FOREIGN INVESTMENTS IN REAL SECTOR OF ARMENIAN ECONOMY GROW
BY 20.5% IN FIRST QUARTER OF 2008

YEREVAN, JUNE 5, NOYAN TAPAN. Foreign investments in the
real sector of Armenian economy (without those through the state
government system and the banking system) amounted to 165 mln
926 thousand USD in January-March 2008, growing by 20.5% on the
same period of 2007.
According to the RA National Staistical Service, direct
investments made 91 mln 746.7 thousand USD in the first quarter
of 2008, increasing by 2.3% on the same period of last year.
Revenues from the privatization of resident organizations
of the RA to nonresident organizations made up 29.4% or 26 mln
408.6 thousand USD of direct investments in January-March 2008.
The amount of foreign investments in the real sector (without
privatization resources) grew by 49.1%, of direct investments by
45% in the indicated period.
42.7% of foreign investments and 32.4% of direct
investments in the real sector in January-March 2008 was
allocated to the communication sector. 27.4% of direct
investments was made in the production and distribution of
power, gas, hot water and steam, 15.4% - in air transport.
