YEREVAN, OCTOBER 2, NOYAN TAPAN. The "Mea Culpa"
performance of screen writer Vahram Sahakian and producer Artur
Sahakian is already five years old. It remains actual even five
years after being staged, the evidence of which is crowded halls
during the performances. Armen Khandikian, the Art Director of
Yerevan Dramatic Theater, expressed such an opinion during the
October 1 press conference convened on the occasion of the 5th
anniversary of the performance. He is convinced that the "Mea
Culpa" tragicomedy will not be in much demand any longer when
society gets rid of the problems and vices raised in it.
"Perhaps, it is early to speak about this, as fall of values
continues in all spheres," A. Khandikian emphasized.
According to A. Khandikian, usually the performances of
this theatrical genre have a very short life, but this standard
has not been preserved with regard to "Mea Culpa", and it has
only one "secret," that is, the performance remains in much
demand today.
According to Hrant Tokhatian, the actor playing the leading
part in the performance, he plays this part with love,
especially with this creative and actors' group. According to
him, staging a performance of this kind is very difficult, as
the producer should be able to present a serious material in a
light genre, which requires more efforts and skilfulness.
"Every new debut is very binding, if the actor a little loses
the interest, the performance will fail," he is convinced.
It was mentioned that on the occasion of Hrant Tokhatian's
50th birth anniversary, on January 10, 2008, the same actors'
group will present a new performance, "Restless Soul," to
spectators. "The performance is a little autobiographical, but
it is staged the way it will be interesting for spectators as
well," H. Tokhatian said.
