5,045 EMERGENCIES REGISTERED IN ARMENIA IN FIRST NINE
MONTHS OF 2006

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 30, NOYAN TAPAN. In the first nine months
of 2006, 5,045 emergencies were registered in Armenia, 3,647 of
which (72.3%) were man-caused, 201 (4%) - natural, and 1,197
(23.7%) were hosehold emergencies. NT correspondent was informed
from the Rescue Service of the RA Ministry of Territorial
Administration that in the period under review, 348 people died
and 2,801 people suffered as a result of these emergencies. 268
people died as a result of man-caused disasters, 2 people - as a
result of natural disasters and 78 people died because of
household emergencies. The number of victims grew by 51, the
number of those suffered - by 526 compared with the same period
of last year.
The number of man-caused emergencies grew by 66%, the
number of hosehold emergencies - by 70% on the same period in
2003-2005. Fires made up 41.8%, road accidents - 21.7% and
poisonings - 22.3% of the emergencies registered in the country.
