FIRST NATIONAL REPORT ON FULFILMENT OF WHO'S ANTI-SMOKING
FRAME CONVENTION IN ARMENIA TO BE PRESENTED IN 2007

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 5, NOYAN TAPAN. In 2007 Armenia will
present the first national report on fulfilment of the
Anti-smoking Frame Convention of the World Health Organization
(WHO) that came into force in the country in 2005. Noyan
Tapan correspondent was informed about it by Alexander
Bazarchian, Coordinator of WHO's Anti-tobacco Program.
In his words, analysis of RA legislation's correspondence
with the Convention is being made at present, after which the
report will be made up. A.Bazarchian said that proceeding from
the Convention's requirements, the respective legislative
changes should be made. In particular, within 5 years cigarette
advertisement should be gradually liquidated, and within 3 years
the ways of packing cigarette products should be changed.
A.Bazarchian said that law "On Limitations to Consumption,
Realization and Use of Cigarettes" is already operating in
Armenia.
