YEREVAN, October 20 (Noyan Tapan). "In Agapi Mkrtchian's
poems the reader sees the drama of the man who left his cradle
long ago and has not found spiritual peace in a strange land."
David Muradian, Secretary of the Writers Union of Armenia, gave
this definition to the theme of the poems included in the book
at the October 20 presentation of the Armenian translation of
the collection "Extract from the emigrant's life." In Muradian's
opinion, the currently living in Germany poetess presents a
lirical extract from the biography of a soul swaying between the
two worlds, while her poetic candor becomes the most important
precondition for the reader's and the author's meeting.
According to Samvel Kosian, the collection's translator,
Agapi Mkrtchian's poems are reminiscent of some graphic works.
"Adjectives are absent in her poetry, since she has an aim to
achieve, and by means of graphic conciseness and simplicity she
succeeds in presenting her world."
The poetess says that one's dreams and love are divided in a
strange land: "You are also divided as a man, but one thing is
never divided: your Homeland. My poems will be the tailor's
needle that will sew these two halves together."
