"EUROPEAN HERITAGE DAYS" FESTIVITY TO BE HELD ON OCT 2-3 IN

YEREVAN, September 23 (Noyan Tapan). The "European Heritage
Days" festivity held in European countries every year will take
place on October 2-3 this year in Armenia. Within the framework
of the event a seminar entitled "From Alphabet Invention till
Electronic Culture" will begin on October 2 in Oshakan. Then the
seminar will continue in Yerevan. The festivities dedicated to
European heritage days in Armenia will be completed by a concert
in the Cascade Yerevan complex.
The "European Heritage Days" program officially approved by
CE in 1991 has been held under the "Europe. Joint Heritage"
motto from 1999. The main goal of the program is to acquaint
European citizens with their cultural values and to save the
endangered cultural heritage. The program also carries out
effective struggle against racialism and intolerance. Only in
2003 20m citizens from 48 countries participated in the
"European Heritage Days." 33 thousand monuments and sights,
museums and exhibitions were announced open for them.
