NATO welcomes normalization process of Armenian-Turkish
relations

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 5, NOYAN TAPAN. RA National Security
Council Secretary Artur Baghdasarian met with Special
Representative of NATO Secretary General for the Caucasus and
Central Asia Robert Simmons on November 5. Issues related to
fulfillment of the actions envisaged by the Armenia-NATO
Individual Partnership Actions Plan in 2009 were discussed at
the meeting.
A. Baghdasarian said that in accordance with the
Armenia-NATO Individual Partnership Actions Plan reforms are
carried out in the spheres of defence, justice, emergency
situations, health, law enforcement bodies' activity. He
attached importance to creation of a crisis management center in
Armenia, ensuring frontier security, creation of proper
infrastructures in this direction, further deepening of
Armenia-NATO cooperation in the issue of fighting terrorism and
organized crime.
R. Simmons expressed satisfaction with the process of
implementation of the Actions Plan and positively estimated the
recorded progress.
According to the Press Office of the National Security
Council Secretary, regional problems were also touched upon at
the meeting. R. Simmons said that NATO welcomes the
normalization process of Armenia-Turkey relations, as well
as Minsk Group's activity in the issue of Nagorno Karabakh
settlement.
